Bangladesh Civil Aviation as was in 2000 AD

From the year 1996 CAAB started issuing operating licenses to private airliners. Even Bangladesh Biman may also go under the private ownership very soon. Besides, Plant protection Department of Bangladesh Government having few aircraft for pesticide spraying. Air wing of this department was also having glorious past. This organization is established during Pakistan period in 1956 in the old airport of Tejgaon – Dhaka. At that time it had DHC –2 (Beaver), & piper. Its Engineering students were trained in the School of Aeronautics & School of Electronics of the Pakistan Air Force situated at Korangi Creek in Karachi. After the independence it is working as the Aviation Wing of Agricultural Department of Bangladesh Government. In 1973 by the aid of New Zealand Government it established A Flying training Project (Scheme) for its Pilots training. For this purpose Norman Clark Government of New Zealand presented three Air Tourer training aircrafts to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Government of the Bangladesh. After the project of flying training is over these aircrafts were used for the training of BAF pilots. These were good training aircrafts but after two fatal crush in 1976 BAF did not collect same type of aircrafts later on. In those crush AVM Khademul Bashar and wing Commander Hamidur Rahman with two other Co- Pilots died. In 1982 Plant Protection Department got five Fletcher-24-950 from New Zealand.For certain technical problems those aircrafts were also disposed off. Now (2000AD) this organization have three Cresco-8-600 built in New Zealand and two DHC-2(Beaver). Once this organization was very active one but now is much ignored one. Its aircrafts are lying in the Plant Protection Aviation Workshop. Being an agricultural country this wing must be properly maintained.
